Wildlife observation places special demands on equipment: it must trigger precisely, function in all lighting conditions, and operate autonomously for long periods of time. The Scouting Cam Black 1321 WiFi Solar 4K DS from BRAUN Photo Technik was designed to meet these challenges with sophisticated technology.

At the heart of the Scouting Cam BLACK1321 WiFi Solar 4K DS is its dual sensor system. The primary 13-megapixel CMOS sensor with an 80-degree angle of view captures daylight scenes in resolutions up to 60 megapixels and records videos in 4K at 30 frames per second. At the same time, the second 2-megapixel sensor with an extended 93-degree image angle works for night shots and uses two 850-nanometer IR LEDs with a range of up to 20 meters. This combination ensures detailed documentation around the clock.

Power is supplied by a 5,200 mAh battery, which is continuously recharged by the solar panel (5V/1A). With a standby consumption of only 0.25 milliamps, this enables approximately twelve months of operation – a virtually self-sufficient system for remote locations and long-term monitoring projects.

The motion detection system is based on three PIR sensors with a 120-degree detection angle and a 0.5-second trigger speed. The sensor sensitivity can be adjusted in three stages, and trigger intervals can be programmed from five seconds to 60 minutes. Continuous shooting captures up to ten images per trigger, while time-lapse shooting works at intervals between five seconds and 24 hours. Programmable recording periods and an endless recording function, in which the oldest recordings are replaced by new ones as soon as the memory card is full, round off the possibilities.

WiFi connectivity (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth enable wireless data transfer, configuration, and live preview within the camera's WiFi range of approximately 10 meters. The 2.4-inch TFT LCD color display allows control directly on the device. Recordings are stored on SD cards up to 256 gigabytes (JPG/MP4). An integrated microphone and speaker complete the audio components.

Video recording offers formats from 4K to 2.7K, 2K, 1080p, 720p and other resolutions, with 2K and 1080p also possible at 60 frames per second. Video lengths between five and 180 seconds can be set, and the night sensor enables recordings up to 1296P at 30 frames per second. Automatic exposure and selectable shutter speeds (1/15 to 1/30 second) optimize image quality.

The IP66 housing (163 × 112 × 76 mm, 458 grams) withstands temperatures from minus 20 to plus 60 degrees Celsius. It can be attached using a strap, tree mount, or 1/4-inch tripod thread. Openings for a steel cable lock and padlock as well as four-digit password protection offer additional security.

The time, date, moon phase, and temperature are automatically displayed – valuable for evaluation. The USB-C interfaces are used for data transfer (connection to the camera unit) and power supply (connection to the battery). The BLACK1321 comes with a USB-C cable, mounting strap, tree mount, and user manual.
